Desolace by Lucian Barnes

Synopsis:

A serial killer is loose in Misty Hollows, Ohio and Katie Johnson is sure that her friend Julie has been abducted by this madman. As she searches for her friend, Katie finds an unexpected ally in the ghost of one of the killers victims and soon finds herself transported to a completely foreign time and place. She only hopes that she can find Julie before it's too late.

My thoughts:
After being introduced to this author, I couldn't help but want to read his unique writings. In this installment of the Desolace series, the author introduces us to the main characters in their world and also introduces us to the alternate world, Desolace. I love the introduction and can appreciate the need for those descriptions in order to have things make sense in the alternate world. You can definitely tell that this is the author's first published work, but I see great potential in his writing. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book :)

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

Author bio:
Lucian began his writing career late in 2010 after receiving encouragement from those close to him that had witnessed the evolution of his writing style. His stories are generally within the realm of the fantasy fiction genre, but at times bridge the gap between other genres as well. Sometimes reaching into the horror and science-fiction genres, his work has a paranormal flavor. Lucian's first published work, Desolace, was released in January of 2012, which was followed by the release of Haven in November of 2012. Both of these works are part of a series that he is currently working on. Lucian is currently working on book three of the series, Outpost 13, and a horror novel titled Innocence Lost. Lucian lives in Pueblo, Colorado.
